Hi there! My name is Melissa (Mel) and I am the face behind Chiquita’s Clay (est. 2020) I am a 27 y/o Latinx mamita from the eastside of Austin, Tx. Growing up in a low income, minority driven neighborhood I was always shown how to play the roll of being a traditional Mexican women. Which often lead to the stigma of following, never leading. As I grew older, I knew I wanted to battle my generational trauma, break that wheel, and change the trajectory of what Latina Women can be. When starting my business, my biggest goal was to show my local Latinx community that there is a platform and space for Latinx creators in this world. It is okay to take up space and be THAT bitch! In doing so, I have been able to create and provide a safe space through my brand. I’ve established a group of “Chiquita’s Clay Bad Bitches” that shows inclusivity, trust, and a whole lot of confidence to those who come by my brand. I started this off as a hobby and it has evolved into my full time business, and my future. I am so thankful for all of the support that my business has given me and the knowledge and growth I have gained since starting this journey. I love you all.
